Volunteer Coordinator

Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina - Raleigh Branch  

Full Time, Non-Exempt

 

Basic Function:  The Volunteer Coordinator will work with the Volunteer Services Manager and Warehouse Projects Coordinator to ensure that the Raleigh Volunteer Program is administered in a way that supports the work and mission of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina and is implemented so that each volunteer is treated with respect, is valued and has a safe work environment.  The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for developing and maintaining an active volunteer program for the Raleigh Branch of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.  Responsibilities include the recruitment, scheduling, training, and recognition of volunteers as well as tracking volunteer data.  The Volunteer Coordinator will coordinate all volunteers and volunteer projects for the office, warehouse, and with special projects.  This includes handling procedures of salvage, product repackaging, egg sorting, food drive sorting, special mailings and special needs volunteers.  This position will be responsible for coordinating the Court-Appointed Community Service Program.   The Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the Speaker’s Bureau Program.

 

Responsibilities:

 

1.       Recruit, schedule, train and recognize volunteers. The Coordinator will maintain necessary levels of volunteers, respond to staff volunteer requests, evaluate volunteers’ effectiveness, monitor and track their time and record hours and contact information. An additional duty is to incorporate appropriate education into volunteer training to increase awareness of hunger issues.

 

2.       Coordinate all components of Court-Appointed Community Service Program. Duties include running orientation, monitoring volunteers and completing all necessary paperwork.

 

3.       Coordinate daily activities with the Warehouse Projects Coordinator. Obtain all necessary material for volunteer activities including product, supplies and paperwork.

 

4.       Obtain knowledge of all salvage, egg and quality control standards and regulations as per Second Harvest and governing authorities and execute them accordingly. 

 

5.       Represent the Food Bank in the community through outreach activities and speaking engagements.  Draft correspondence as necessary.

 

6.       Foster an environment that is friendly, productive and safe.

 

7.       Serve on the safety committee

 

8.       Complete other duties as assigned by the Volunteer Services Manager and Vice President of Operations. 

 

9.       Recruit, schedule and train volunteers for the Speaker’s Bureau program. 

 

Supervises:  Volunteers

 

Certification:  Forklift Certificate, Egg Handling Certificate

 

Qualifications/experience:  Must possess good written and oral communication skills and be able to represent the Food Bank professionally.  Must demonstrate knowledge of Microsoft Office, be detail oriented and have ability to work with diverse groups of people. Strong customer service and organizational skills are necessary. An excellent driving record is required as some travel is necessary.

Data- Entry Assistant

Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, RALEIGH NC

Full Time, hourly

 

Basic function:  To work with Donor Processing staff to accurately and efficiently enter data and maintain donor records.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Working with the Donor Processing staff, this position will:

 

1.  Perform data entry of direct contributions, workplace fund drive donations and

in-kind gifts.

 

2.  Code and create new donor accounts.

 

3.  Perform account maintenance including address changes and account

updates.

 

4.  Perform administrative tasks such as assisting with acknowledgements,

matching gift forms and other donor letters.

 

5.  Support Development staff with other tasks as needed and requested by the

            Database, Direct mail, Website Manager and the Vice President of

Development.

 

 

 Qualifications:  A successful candidate must have:  at least two years data entry experience in an office or organization setting; working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel programs; excellent communication and customer service skills; the ability to take direction and multi-task; and the ability to be motivated and a self-starter.

 

Experience in non-profit databases such as Donor 2 is a plus.

 

Travel:  None.

 

Education:  Successful completion of a degree from an accredited high school.  College education and/or additional training and certification are a plus.
