Hunger Studies

Hunger in America 2006 (pdf) An update of the Hunger Study in 2001, this report involves more than 52,000 face-to-face interviews with clients who sought emergency help through America's Second Harvest network of more than 200 food banks and member agencies. This study was completed following the devastating hurricanes of Katrina, Rita and Wilma. The study specifically addresses hunger in the service territory of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina as well as national hunger issues.

Hunger in America 2001 (pdf) The most comprehensive study of hunger in America involving more than 32,000 individuals who shared their personal stories of struggle with hunger. Over 100 food banks associated with America's Second Harvest participated in research for the study including volunteers, researchers, academics and charitable agency staff. The study specifically addresses hunger in the service territory of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina as well as national hunger issues.
